Maude Freeland--Services for Maude Freeland, 76, Forsyth, were held Sunday in the Community Presbyterian
Church with the Rev. Robert Watts officiating. Burial was in Ozarks Park Cemetery, Branson under the direction
of Whelchel Funeral Home.
Miss Freeland died at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 in Plantation Hills Nursing Home after a long illness.
A resident of Forsyth since 1919, she attended Southwest Missouri State University, Springfild, and Jefferson
Junior College, Jefferson City. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 1930 with a bachelor of science
and later received a masters in journalism. She taught journalism at the University of Missouri and was head of
the department. She was director of the News Writer Association and a co-owner and operator of the Taney County
Republican, formerly the White River Leader. She was a 50 year member of the Hayworth chapter No. 32 of the
Eastern Star and member of the Taney RepublicanWomen's Club. She was also a member of the American
Association of University Women, the Library Club, the Yenat Study Club, and the Community Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a sister, Frieda Ingenthron, Forsyth; and severalnieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Mary King Long Scholarship Fund, the Ralph D. McPherson
Scholarship Fund or the Lewis Scholarship Fund.
