A large attendance of relatives and friends and many beautiful floral offerings were a fitting tribute to Mrs. Rachel Ann Greenwood Stevenson, for whom funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the L. D. S. ward chapel at Central. Mrs. Stevenson passed away at her home in Central late Saturday following a long illness.
Bishop Leland Gray presided at the services. Speakers were G. A. Staples of Central, Rulon Newell of Elsinore, both old friends of the family, and Bishop Gray, who gave a few closing remarks.
Musical numbers were selections by a male quartet composed of Heber Christiansen, Ernest Anderson, Leland Gray and Burton Thompson with Mrs. Heber Christiaansen as accompanist; a vocal solo by Mrs. A. B. Robinson of Richfield and a vocal solo by Mrs. Philip Shipp of Joseph.
The invocation was by Chris Sorenson of Central; the benediction by John Nordfors of Annabella. Lehi Ence of Salt Lake City dedicated the grave, interment being in the Richfield cemetery.
All of Mrs. Stevensons immediate family were in attendance at the services as well as a number of other relatives and friends from various parts of the state.
Mrs. Stevenson was born at Beaver, June 6, 1875, a daughter of Barnard H. and Eunice Howd Greenwood. She moved to Central with her parents when two years of age and had since resided there. She received her education in the Central public schools and the Sevier stake academy at Richfield. On December 23, 1897. She was married to Wm. G. Ence of Richfield in the Manti temple. Mr. Ence was accidentally killed on June 26, 1905 and on December 21, 1911 she was married to Willard E. Stevenson in the Salt Lake temple.
Mrs. Stevenson had always been active in church and community work having held several offices in such organizations.
Surviving are her husband; one son, Delbert G. Ence of Central, two daughters, Mrs. H. T. Martines of Richfield and Miss Dean Stevenson of Central. Five brothers, Hartley Greenwood of Central, W. S. Greenwood of Richfield, L. D. Greenwood of Park City, Dr. R. Vern Greenwood of Provo and Ray H. Greenwood of Salt Lake City; one sister Mrs. Owen George of Pleasant Grove and three grandchildren.
