Wife of Martin Stabbal (1811-1892). Martin and Sophia married in Germany. Family notes say the family came from the Kassel, Germany area. Martin came to North America with a brother about 1850 and settled around Amherst. He then sent for the family from Germany.

Martin and Sophia and their family lived east of Slate Stone Cut in Brownhelp Twp for many years. The farm was said to have a railroad slate cut quarry at the back of the property.

Martin and Sophia had at least seven children:
