Jessie T. Davis

Our precious and loving mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend passed away Saturday, October 24, 1998 at the age of 86.

Jessie was a farmer's daughter and met all her challenges with dignity and a firm resolve to make the best of any given situation. Jessie was a strong willed and determined woman yet a loving and compassionate human being. She never complained about the difficulties she faced in life and during the last three years when she was racked with pain she continued to share her positive and upbeat spirit never belaboring the extreme discomfort she was enduring. Her greatest joy was in giving of herself to others. A special pleasure was giving "Grandma" dollars to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jessie consistently put the needs of others before her own. Her thoughts were constantly on how she could help her children, their children and friends and neighbors who might be in need.

Jessie was born in Levan, Utah on November 22, 1912 to Augustus Woodruff and Della Jacobsen. She married Alma L. Davis on June 29, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in numerous capacities within the Children's Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. She was a member of the Daughter's of Utah Pioneers. Most of her life hours was spent in the service of others.

She is survived by her three children: JoAnn Johnson of West Valley; Randy A. Davis of Murray; and Myron (Brenda) Davis of Mountain Green. Also, surviving are six grandsons, one granddaughter, six step grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband (June 16, 1986), two brothers, (Elmo and Garn Turnbridge), four sisters (Pearl Jenkins, Ruby Christensen, Chloe Anderson and Fern Aagard).

Those of us who had the pleasure of being in her presence will never forget her engaging smile, compassionate aura, healthy laugh, straight forward and honest nature as well as an unfailing devotion to family, friends, and religion. While she was strong in her convictions' she never imposed her will on others for she strongly believed individuals had the God given right to "plow their rows" as they see fit.

Mom ("Grandma Day") our hearts are heavy with the enormous and selfish loss we feel. However, we rejoice in the fact that you are finally free from the pain and discomfort that has been with you so many years. "How are you doing young lady?".

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 1998, 12 noon at the Hillcrest Ward, 5600 So. 435 East. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St. and Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment: Murray City.
