Funeral services were held Monday morning at ten o'clock at the Methodist Church here for Art Nelson, 58, who passed away suddenly at his home here last Wednesday evening, July 6th at seven o'clock. The Rev. Clarence Buehler of Scotia officiated with the McIntyre-Jacobsen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska, where military services were conducted at the graveside.

Mr. Nelson had suffered ill health for some time, receiving treatment at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha and Grand Island for different period of time in the past year or so. He was released June 30th from the hospital in Omaha where he had been a patient for 11 weeks and remained at the home of his sister, Mrs. Walt Wohlers, until Sunday, July 3rd, then accompanying his sister and brother-in-law here where a Nelson family reunion was held that day.
(Funeral details followed)

Arthur George Nelson was born September 6, 1896, the third son of Nels J. and Mary Nelson. He grew up in Wolbach and received his education in the Wolbach schools. Art was not a man who confined his efforts to one locality. His different interests carried him to many fields. One of the more recent positions was employment by this city in which he served very capably. Due to his recent illness, he was forced to resign which was felt deeply by his employees.

He served his Country during World War I and was an active member of the Ray Mapes American Legion Post of Wolbach.

Art learned of his chronic ailment two years ago and during this time carried his burden with unending patience.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Hester; one daughter, Gloria Bruesh of Gardenia, California, by a previous marriage; two step children, Roland Lowe of Shelton, Washington and Phyllis Watson of Honolulu, Hawaii; three grandchildren; his mother, Mary Nelson; two brothers, Otto of Lincoln and Andy of Wolbach; five sisters, Hattie Menzter of Ericson, Marie Nelson of Broken Bow, Mabel Wohlers of Omaha, Esther Bussell of Scotia and Lillian Nelson of North Platte; seven nieces and eleven nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, George, his brother Louis in November 1932 and his father, Nels J. in November 1945.
