Married to Lara Busby Keith on April 10, 1909 in TN.

A TENNESSEE VISIT
In the 1960's (1965) and again in the 1970's Ted and I went to TN to visit his kinfolks there. We went to Reelfoot Lake, and to Chattanooga, and to the overlook where you could see 3 (or more?) states, as well as where a Civil War battle occurred. I don't remember the names of the places, since it was so long ago...will add them later if I remember them. When I first met David Marshall or "Poppa" as we called him, he was so tall, and still had dark hair ....wore overalls, and was very quiet. I believe by that time he was semi-retired.

His wife, Lara was so short, I was just a little bit taller than she was, and she got a kick out of that. I was told of how one time, there was a critter trying to kill her chickens, and she grabbed the shot gun which was kept by the back door...and shot that critter with one shot. I think they said it was a weasel or badger or something...can't remember what it was. (Dynamite DOES come in small packages!)
Even at that time, Lara was tending to a garden...and we sat on her porch and shucked corn on the cob, and shelled peas for dinner. Oh how good that tasted to us "city folks"! Lara didn't like to eat with her teeth in, so she would cut the corn off the cob, and fry it in a skillet on the stove. Oh my that was good food, and the first time I ever tasted it cooked like that. I can still see that kitchen.

We slept on a feather bed in the guest room....another first for me, and a hand made quilt on the bed. I remember it was very hot and humid, since we're from Arizona, and they kept fans going all the time. They didn't have a cooler like we do here....but the fans did just fine.....I fell in love with both Momma and Poppa Keith, and named my daughter after Laura, although we spell it Laurie. We named our son after Hazel's son, Virgil. I really got to meet and love all of their son, Gollie's family, and also met a lot of Maudie's family as well. (Dunlap)

I am so glad that my two children got to know their great-grandparents before they were gone. Later on, Momma Keith (Lara)and her daughter, Hazel Keith Lowe came to Az. and got to visit with the family.

Those trips were long, hot and humid but I loved it, was kinda glad to get back to AZ again.
