Fort Plain-Mrs. Mabel Diefendorf, 67, widow of Victor Z. Diefendorf, died Wednesday night in the Fort Plain Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 3, 1892 in Fort Plain, daughter of Robert B. and Gertrude Marsh Lipe, and was a life resident of Fort Plain.
Mrs. Diefendorf was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and the old Oswego Normal School. She taught in Cleveland, N.Y. and Fort Plain.
In June, 1932, she was married to Victor Z. Diefendorf. He died several years ago.
She was a member of the Universalist Church of the Messiah and its Chapin Club [and] Fort Plain Chapter, DAR.
She leaves a son, Alan; two stepsons, Robert and Fenton Diefendorf; a brother, Howard Lipe, all of Fort Plain; and a niece.
The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from the Gray Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Scott, of the Universalist Church of the Messiah, officiating. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
