Their children were William, age 25; Tate, 23 (male); Cordia, 13; & Earnest, 7. John was farming with the help of his older sons.

One of John's granddaughters said he had contracted Malaria and had bought some "swamp chill tonic" to help treat his condition. He died September 4, 1914, after accidentally taking an overdose of the tonic.

Find A Grave member, Tricia Brown Westbrooks (#46590820), tried to find his tombstone (March 2016). It was verified by the cemetery that he is buried in an unmarked grave.

Francis died in Oklahoma City on January 2, 1943.
