Pioneer Dies At Ballinger; Services Today

Ballinger, Oct. 18 - Mrs. Sam Morgan, 70, a resident of Runnels County for 49 years, died of a heart attack at the family residence at 810 Seventh St. sometime Monday night.

Mrs. Morgan was found dead in her bed about 5 o'clock Tuesday morning by members of the family.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the Eighth Street Presbyterian Church with the Rev. A.O. Rue, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Norton Cemetery. Newby-Davis Funeral Home have charge of arrangements.

Born In Coryell

Mrs. Morgan, who was born Sept. 15, 1879, was married to Sam Morgan Aug. 24, 1898, in Coryell County. In 1900 she came to Miles and from there moved to Norton where she lived until she came to Ballinger in 1945 where she had since resided.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church for 50 years.

Survivors Listed

Survivors include the husband; four sons, Malcolm, city commissioner of Ballinger, Roy of Ballinger, Alton of Maverick and Albert T. Morgan of Monahans; two daughters, Mrs. Annie Bibb of Ballinger and Mrs. Tina Lee of Maverick; and a brother, a half-brother, a sister, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are to be Cal Adair, Sherman Hendricks, Robert Lee, J.R. Mackey, Walter Bigby and H.F. Demmer, all of Ballilnger, and Clarence Sharpe and A.T. Chapman, both of Norton.
