R. Corey Adamson-Downs

Our Smiling, laughing Corey passed away on December 12, 1998.

He was born September 18, 1965 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Corey grew up in Lehi, Utah where he had many friends and a lot of open spaces to be a boy. He graduated from Lehi High School in 1984.

Corey was an excellent wrestler and in his senior year was State Champion at the 132 lb. weight in the 3A Championships, following in his brothers, LeRoy and Brad, footsteps and being the first three brothers in Utah High School Athletics to win state championships. His oldest brother, LeRoy, was such a great teacher and example to follow. Corey loved to golf with his friends.

His brother Brad and him would always have a great time with jokes and laughing on the golf course. He was an athlete and excelled at baseball, basketball, cross country, football and bowling. After high school, Corey attended Weber State for two years and wrestled for them. He became a "Forrest Gump" in ping-pong and loved trying to beat David. Cody would laugh when he could get Corey picking up the ball more than he was hitting it.

Corey was a country western music fan and loved to, and was good at, western dance and enjoyed going to Country Jam. He looked great in wranglers and a cowboy hat.

He was known as a great concrete finisher and was currently employed by Layton Construction Co.

Corey was a loving and giving person and a great friend. He had an infectious laugh and loved to use it. He loved to tease and joke and his quick wit kept everyone on their toes and enjoying themselves. He loved to read the sports and keep up with the local high school teams and the pro teams. His favorite football team was always the Dallas Cowboys and the Taz was his signature.

Corey is survived by his parents, Layne and Diane Downs of Lehi; Don and Jeannete Adamson of Riverton; three brothers, LeRoy (Amanda) Adamson, Albuquerque, NM.; Brad (Traci) Adamson and Cody Downs, both of Lehi; two sisters, Cristal Downs (David) Taylor, Kamas, UT.; Nicole Downs, Lehi; step-brothers and sisters, Scott and Jim Timothy, San Diego, Ca.; Shari Gaulin, West Jordan; Kathy Webbena, Colorado Springs; grandparents, Emily Stone, Draper; LaVere and Virginia Downs, Lehi; nieces and nephews that he loved and uncles and aunts that were dear to him. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandpa, Lloyd Stone, and his uncle Bob Stone that had such an impact in his life.
