Rita T. Luebbert, 73, of West Point, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at University Hospital in Omaha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Guild and Christian Mother’s Rosary with VFW Auxiliary Rites will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home. Public Wake Services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Lunch will be at the Vets Club. Memorials may be made in her memory.
Rita was born February 5, 1934 at West Point to Carl and Margaret Diekemper Stieren. She was raised on the farm near Aloys and attended St. Aloysius Catholic School. She was a 1951 graduate of Guardian Angels High School. On November 10, 1954 she married Bernard “Ben” Luebbert at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. The couple farmed near St. Charles, moving to West Point in 2004. Rita was associated with grocery work for 34 years, most recently at Graybeal’s, retiring in February 2007.
Rita was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild and Christian Mothers. She was a member of VFW auxiliary and Merry Mixers Extension Club. She was an avid bowler.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard, of West Point, daughters Lois (Joe) French of Lincoln, Judy (John) Davis of Harlan, Iowa, Bonnie (Tom) Ruskamp of Dodge, sons Myron (Moira)of Westminster, CO, and Roger (Staci) of West Point, sisters Rose (Leroy) Messersmith of Sioux, City, IA, and Agnes (Vincent) Rolf of West Point, brothers Art (Betty) Stieren of West Point, and Bob of Council Bluffs, IA, grandchildren Julia French, Kiley and Dustin Mevert, Chris Davis, Danielle, Courtney, And Garrett Ruskamp, Rachel and Evan Luebbert and Adyson Luebbert. Preceding her in death were sisters Dorothy Muhs, Clara Gentrup, Marie Batenhorst,and Leona Hagedorn, brother Ken Stieren and sister-in-law Louise Stieren.
