OBITUARY :
MARY ELIZABETH "MARY LIB" MOTT, 94, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Autumn Acres Personal Care Center.

Born Jan. 28, 1915, in Flatwoods, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Bernard Sheldon and Arley Scott Stump Berry.

She was a 1932 graduate of Sutton High School, attended Alderson-Broaddus College, was a 1937 graduate of West Virginia University and attended the University of California.

She was a teacher in West Virginia and California.

She was a lieutenant and served as a decoder in the WAVES during World War II.

She was a member of the Humane Society of Morgan County (W.Va.), Foxglove Garden Club, the American Cancer Society of West Virginia, the American Red Cross, and Morgan County Historical and Genealogical Society, among others.

She is survived by one brother, Jack H. Berry of Stafford, Va.; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ada L. Everett; four brothers, W. Vernon Berry, Luther S. Berry, Gordon L. Berry and Frank S. Berry; and one nephew.

There will be a gathering of family and friends Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Everett residence in Merrywoods.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Humane Society of Morgan County, 5366 Valley Road, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411; or Morgan County Public Library, 105 Congress St., Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
