Alexander H. Semerau, 92, a former Marathon resident, died Friday, Oct 29, 1999, at North Central Health Care Facility.

He was born Dec. 6, 1906, in the town of Stettin, son of the late August and Bertha (Reiche) Semerau.

Alexander had worked as a carpenter and been employed at Kolbe Brothers Lumber Co., He was a good-hearted person who enjoyed helping his nephew on the farm. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army, and was a member of the American Legion Post No, 469, Marathon.

Survivors include one brother, Hubert Semerau, Hustiford; one sister, Beridella Bischoff, Waterford; one sister-in-law, Alma Semerau; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Paul, Walter and Elmer Semerau; and one sister, Lena Kiepke.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau. The Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in the Stettin Christian Cemetery, town of Stettin, where military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 469.

Friends may call until the time of services at the Stewart Ave. funeral home. There will be an American Legion service at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
