George Richard Alspach, 75, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at The Pickering House.

George was born July 26, 1933, in Carroll, to the late John and Mary Dunkle Alspach.

He was a carpenter by trade and a member of AMVETS and Olivedale Senior Center.

George served his country and protected our freedoms as a soldier in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

George is survived by sons, Steve Alspach of Carroll and Rich Alspach of Michigan; sisters, Martha Lee (Don) Anneshansley of Lancaster, Mary Lou (Evertt) Glascock of Florida and Joan (Felix) Palumbo of Canal Winchester; grandson, Hunter Alspach of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, with Pastor Karl Hartmann officiating.

Friends and family may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A caring cremation will take place.
