Gentry Bailey "Cowboy" McBride, 92, rode off into the sunset Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009.
Service: 10 a.m. Friday in Winscott Road Memorial Chapel, 1001 Winscott Road. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Born Feb. 22, 1916, he was the third son of Dempsey J. and Sarah Alice "Sallie" McBride. He was born in Silver City outside Gatesville.
Gentry retired from Trinity Portland Cement Plant in 1978 and had worked on ranches and oil fields.
The family extends a special thank-you to Grace Hospice and White Settlement Nursing Center for their love and care.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, J.D., Raby and Gerald McBride; a sister, Pauline Potter; daughter, Glenda Laning; son-in-law, Edward Cornelius; daughter-in-law, Brenda McBride; and the mother of his children, Erah Mae McBride.
Survivors: Son-in-law, Frank Laning; daughters, Pauline Burnett and husband, Doug, Annette Cornelius and Sharon Thomas and husband, Orbie; son, Mickey Dan McBride; grandchildren, Mitzie Baker, Kim Fisher, Angela "Angie" Winkle, Melissa Johnson, Kenny Thomas, Christy Waller, Stacy Summerhill, Shane Cornelius, Misty Porras, Lance Burnett and Adrienne Helm; 39 great-grandchildren; one new great-great-granddaughter; brother, Wilson McBride; and numerous nieces and nephews.
