Married Gracie Mayhew April 1, 1875 in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky. Their four children were born in Louisa, Kentucky. They moved to Lamar, Missouri in 1908. Charles died of pneumonia at his home on East South First Street in Lamar and was buried there in Lake Cemetery.
