ELIZABETH LUCAS MORRIS (Age 85) Elizabeth Penn Lucas Morris, of Iowa City, IA, died Wednesday evening, October 8, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She was in the company of her daughters. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 14 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City where the family will greet friends. A service and burial will be at National Memorial Park cemetery in Falls Church, VA. Elizabeth was born November 15, 1922 to Libbie Lee Penn and The Rev. Philip Elmer Lucas in Bellevue, KY. She grew up in Arlington, VA, where she attended Washington-Lee High School and later married James Barton Morris on April 6, 1951. She moved to Iowa City in 2001 to be closer to her family. Her passions in life were celebrating God's grace, loving her family, and painting with her friends at the Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband and four siblings including Forrest Lee Rothbauer, Mildred Houser, Charles W. Lucas, and Philip Elmer Lucas, Jr. She is survived by her daughter and daughter-in-law. She will be missed by her faithful feline companion Luna. (Published in The Washington Post on 10/11/2008)
