Walter Prather, Jr. of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, September 30, 1998, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on July 10, 1933, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of Walter and Lois (Walker) Prather, Sr.

Surviving are two daughters, Keli Walton of Mitchell, IN, and Diana Cabello of Texas; one son, Walter D. "Wally" Prather III of Arizona; five grandchildren, and one sister, Jetta Briscoe of Mitchell, IN.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War and was a security guard for the Pinkerton Agency. He was a member of the Paoli Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250, Mitchell.

Services for Walter Prather will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3rd, at Haverly Mortuary with Brother Max Timbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9107, Mitchell.
