McMinnville resident and Warren County native Edith Ioda Cantrell, 95, died June 13 at Raintree Manor after a lingering illness.

An inspector with Genesco and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of George Lawrence and Josie Ann Hardcastle Cantrell.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Joyce Griffith of McMinnville; grandchildren and spouses, Bruce and Sherry Griffith, Randy and Vickie Griffith, Brent and Dawn Griffith, Leigh Ann and Todd Strange, all of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Justin Griffith, Tara and Eric Watson, Benji and Kristy Griffith, Kayla, Lucus, Lindsey, Lacey and Nikkie Griffith, Casey Fults, Cole and Quinn Crim; great-great-granddaughters, Bailey Griffith, Peyton Judkins and Taylor Watson; sisters, Artie Kitchen of Nashville and Loretta Wood of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Pearline Cantrell and Elizabeth Cantrell, both of McMinnville, Bertha Cantrell of Nashville and Hallie Cantrell of Florida.

Services were held Saturday at High's Chapel with Bill Walkup and Tony Lawrence officiating. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory.

High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edith Ioda Catrell, who was born May 27, 1907 in Warren County, Tennessee, was the daughter of George Lawrence Cantrell and Josie Ann Hardcastle. Her siblings, like her were all born in Warren County, Tennessee; they were Ola Belle Cantrell, Alex Clark Cantrell, James Richard Cantrell, Leonard Alton Cantrell, Mattie Cantrell, Mallie May Cantrell, Claude Cantrell, Edith Ioda Cantrell, Lafayette G. Cantrell, Artie Myrtle Cantrell, Loretta F. Cantrell, and George L. Cantrell.
Edith Ioda Cantrell married Chester Clayton Griffith on January 4, 1925 in Warren County, Tennessee, they later divorced. They had 1 child: Ralph Clayton Griffith. Chester Clayton Griffith was the son of Peyton Monroe Griffith and Jossie Bryant. Chester was born January 31, 1905 in Rural DeKalb County, Tennessee and died in February 1977 in Tennessee.
