ALTON - Melinda M. Dixon, 71, of Alton went to be with the Lord at 2:03 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at St. Louis University Hospital.

She was born April 29, 1937, in Springfield, the daughter of the late John and Ruth McCarthy Murray.

She was married to Richard J. Dixon September of 1958. He passed away Feb. 18, 2000.

Melinda was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. She loved to golf, travel and work in her yard. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Jim Boyle and Elizabeth and John Bacus, all of Alton; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Jane Dixon of Lee's Summit, Mo.; five grandchildren, Michael Boyle, John and Joe Bacus, and Molly and Betsy Dixon; and a sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Ken Schmidt of Clarendon Hills.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at the funeral home, with Father Jim Walther, OMV, officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
