DEATH NOTICE: The Manti Messenger, Saturday 9 November 1901:
GONE TO HER REST.
Mrs. Ann Barton, of Manti, passed away on Sunday afternoon, from chronic heart desease. The lady had been a sufferer for a considerable time and about a month ago went to Salt Lake City to visit her sister, in hopes that the change would improve her physical condition. She gradually grew worse, however, and was brought home last Saturday. Her demise speedily ensued.
Mrs. Barton was a devoted wife and mother. Her estimable qualities of mind and heart, her adherence to principle and her zeal for the cause of the religion which she had espoused, made her loved and esteemed throughout the community.
She was the widow of William K. Barton and the daughter of James Cook, who survives her. Twelve children came to bless her home and among those remaining are: Mrs. W. W. Brown, Mrs. George E. Bench, Jr., Mrs. Andrew Madsen, Alpha C, and the Misses Emily and Ellen.
The deceased was deeply mourned by a host of friends, and no greater grief attends the passing away of noble womanhood than that which attended the departure of this esteemed and noble minded woman. There is surely laid up for her a tribute of recompense for earthly toil, and in the spirit world we hope the reward of the faithful will be hers.
Funeral services were held in the Tabernacle on Friday afternoon, and were most impressive. May she enjoy the sleep of the blessed and may the sorrowing relatives and friends receive the comfort and solace of the Father of us all.
