Funeral services with Military Rites for Omer Kenneth Stubbs of Edmond, formerly of El Reno, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glen Chapman officiating. A 2:30 p.m. graveside service will be held at McAlister Cemetery in Overbrook, Okla.


Omer Kenneth Stubbs was born Jan. 22, 1925 at Pike, Okla. to Roy Omer and Mabel Gothard Stubbs. His spirit was received into the Lord's presence on Feb. 9, 2009. Omer was the fourth child with three others to follow. He attended college in Tishomingo before going to work for Halliburton Oil Company and Dow Chemical before retiring. He served during World War II as a member of the Army with service in the South Pacific. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Kingfisher Golf Club. At church he participated in the MAL'A Kim Sunday School Class, Primetimers Choir and the Saints Alive Program. His work career took he and his family to Wyoming and Texas before coming back to Oklahoma. When he retired, he established his own business, Omer's Services and fully retired in December 1990. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing and participating in his activities at the church. He was a hard working man who enjoyed making people laugh and in having a good time.


He was preceded to God's presence by his parents; brothers Charles, Eugene and Jerry; a sister, Serena; and his wife Lorraine.


Survivors include his daughter Jo Ellen Valdez and husband Manuel of Poquoson, Va.; son Kenneth Stubbs of Quito, Equador; two sisters, Rita Cullum and husband Albert of Overbrook, OK and Poly Bell of Thackerville, OK; four grandchildren, Sandra Stubbs of Allen, Texas, Michelle and Steve Buchanan, Marina and Jason Bise, Erick Stubbs and Katherine Stubbs; great-grandchildren Bryce, Brooke, Cal and Macy Buchanan, Sebastian, Josiah and Gabriel Bise; special friend Willis Loyall and numerous other relatives and friends.
