Herman was the son of
Samuel Arnel Cole and
Julia Ann Monahan.
He was first married to
Charollet Hey.
They had nine children:
Stephen Cole,
Michael Cole,
Ronnie Cole,
Beth Cole (Coray),
Nancy Cole (Christman),
Carol Cole (Ruiz),
Deborah Cole (Gogolewski),
Doug Cole and
Susan Cole.
He was next married to
Margot Pelkner
in 1980.

HERMAN E. "GENE" COLE

Herman E. "Gene" Cole, 74, passed away November 7, 2002 in Chipita Park, CO.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at 2:00p.m. at the USAF Academy Community Church.
Gene was born in Madison, IN. on October 13, 1928. He was one of 13 children born to Samuel A. and Julia A. Cole. He married Margot Pelkner in 1980.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Margot, nine children: Stephen Cole, Michael Cole, Ronnie Cole, Beth Coray, Nancy Christman, Carol Ruiz, Deborah Cole Gogolewski, Doug Cole, and Susan Cole; Three step-children: Mark Burney, Darlene Demonja, and Lorraine Nigbur; two sisters: Mary and Rita; 19 grandchildren.
Gene served in the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 3, and retired after 25 years of service. His many decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Cluster, Good Conduct Medal with 3d Leaf, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device (1st OLC), 1 Overseas Bar, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Korean National Defense Service Medal.
Upon his retirement, Gene worked for the USAF Academy Commissary and the USAF Academy Post Office. He was an avid golfer, and a member of the USAF Academy Gold Club.
Dad, you were a wonderful father and grandfather. We love you and we'll miss you.
