I. Christian Hansen was born in Jutland, Denmark on June 4, 1871, and passed away at Brodstone hospital (sic) in Superior Nov. 26, 1955.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In his late teens he emigrated to America and for a short time stayed with relatives and attended school at Hampton, Nebr. The remainder of his life was spent in the Hardy and Ruskin communities where he followed the occupation of farming.

On Sept. 23, 1896 he was united in marriage with Mette Vognsen, who had also emigrated from Denmark. Four children were born to them, three daughters and one son.

The eldest daughter died at birth, his wife died in 1929, a daughter, Stella Mogensen, died in 1935 and his son Chauncey died in March of this year.

One daughter, Frances, survives, also four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Ruskin at the Community Presbyterian church (sic). The officiating minister was the Reverend Wilbur Swan of Superior.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Chris Houtwed and Mrs. Addis Jensen, with Mrs. Eli Skinner as pianist.

Interment in Spring Creek cemetery (sic) at Ruskin with the following as pallbearers: Frits Sorensen, Clarence Krogh, Clarence Johnson, Jens Thorup, Harry Jensen and Chris Hansen.
