William Henry Jones was born in England, but immigrated to Canada due to religious persecution in England. He married Lucy Elizabeth Mills in the province of Ontario, Canada on October 21, 1859. Their first 6 children were born in Canada before migrating to the United States in about 1872. They settled first in the Dickinson County, Kansas area. There, the last four children were born. By 1890, William Henry, Lucy and some of their children moved on to Barton County, Missouri where William and Lucy spent their last years. William was husband to Lucy Elizabeth (Mills) Jones. Father to: Elizabeth Jane (Jones) Morley, Elenor (Jones) Waldie, William Henry Jones, Jr. (Will), Mary Melenda (Jones) Barnes, John Philip Jones, Hannah Grace (Jones) Rix, Josiah Samuel Jones, George Earnest Jones and Mabel Alberta (Jones) Scratcher.
Am still not sure why his middle initial is listed as "M" on the gravestone, as all the genealogy information lists his as William Henry. His father was Henry Jones, mother was Elenor Mounce Richards.
