Funeral rites for Samuel Holland Underwood, 80, Toombs Addition, Globe, who died at his home Saturday, February 15, after an illness of three months, were held from the Chapel of the Globe Mortuary at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Reverend R.O. Douglas, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Globe Cemetery.
Mr. Underwood was born in Marion, Alabama, November 8, 1866 and had been a resident of Arizona since 1912. He was a telegraph operator for more than 40 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Underwood observed their golden wedding anniversary in Globe in 1941.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. L.L. Moreland, Globe; a son in Texas, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a sister in Marion, Alabama.
