Mrs. Amestoy of Pioneer Family Dies
Rosary for Mrs. Francoise H. Amestoy, 89, member of the pioneer Amestoy family of Encino, will be recited Tuesday at 9 p.m. at Cathedral Chapel, 922 S Detroit St. Requiem Mass will be said there Wednesday at 10 a.m. Mrs. Amestoy was born in France in 1873 and came to California is 1891 to marry the late John B. Amestoy. They settled on the Amestoy Rancho in Encino, now a California historical monument. She was the daughter-in-law of Domingo Amestoy, pioneer founder of the estate. Mrs. Amestoy died Saturday at her home, 401 N Highland Ave. Interment will be at the Amestoy family mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Grace A. Tipton and Mrs. Juanita Mahoney; two sisters: Mrs. Thecla Achin, and Mrs. Maria Delpy; seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
