CONCORDIA -- Richard E. Anderson Jr., 83, rural Concordia, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at a Belleville hospital.

Mr. Anderson was a retired master driver and damage control chief and carpenter. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Lincoln Township, to Richard E. Anderson Sr. and Daisy Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the VFW, Moose, American Legion and Fleet Reserve Association. He was a past district commander of the American Legion and a past department commander of the American Legion of Washington, D.C.

He married Rose Castiglione on June 14, 1947, in Chicago. She survives.

Survivors also include a daughter, Anita Rogge, Manhattan; and a grandson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Talmo. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Nutter Mortuary, Concordia, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the organization of the donor's choice.
