One of the founders of the church at Kent, April 29, 1741

"Joseph, the son of John, was born in 1699 in East Haddam, Conn. He married his first wife, Lydia Day, born April 11, 1698, on December 22, 1722. They moved 12 mile northeast to Colchester, Conn early in their married life. His two oldest children were probably born there. In about 1738-40, Joseph moved his family 72 miles west to Kent, Conn. Lydia died in Kent on November 2, 1763. Joseph then married Zerviah Noble of New Milford, Conn. on January 8, 1766. He remained in Kent until his death on July 19, 1775. He was one of the founders of the church at Kent, April 29, 1741. He became a deacon in the church on February 12, 1741 and next to the minister he was the foremost man of the town. He owned extensive tracts of land in Kent. He probably left no will. However, he made several deed gifts of land to his sons about 1757-1760, as shown in Kent land records. Deacon Joseph Fuller and his first wife Lydia were buried in North Kent. The East Haddam Probate Records, Vol.vii., p., 431 (preserved at Colchester) mention heirs of Lieut. David Day, among whom are ”the heirs of Lydia Fuller”. These records and the inscriptions on their monuments, prove that Lydia Day was the mother of Joseph Fuller’s children. Ten were born in East Haddam and Colchester and one was born in Kent, Conn.
This line of Edward Fuller of the Mayflower has now migrated westward more than 260 miles from Plymouth, Ma. to Scituate, Ma., to Barnstable Ma., to East Haddam, Conn., to Colchester, Conn., to Kent, Conn.
