Farmer Killed Instantly By Train Near Back River
His Hat And Part Of His His Head Carried On Front Of Engine To Washington.
On his way to his home near Rossvile yesterday, Joseph Schuler, a 67-year-old farmer, was struck by a Washington-bound Pennslyvania Railroad train at Chesaco Park and killed instantly. Part of the head and the man's hat were found on the front of the engine when the train arrived in Washington.
Schuler had been visiting a neighbor. It is thought he was crossing te tracks when struck. The deead man's son, Joseph Schuler, Jr., identified the body as that of his father.
Schuler is survived by a widow, Mrs. Mary M. Schuler, and several children.

SCHULER- Suddenly, on March 11, 1923, JOSEPH, aged 67 years, beloved husband of Mary M. Schuler. Funeral will take place from his late residence, near Old Philadelphia Road, on Thursday. March 15 at 8AM; thence to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Middel River, where Mass will be said for the repose of his soul at 9AM. Interment in Oaklawn Cemetery.
