Shirley de Miranda died at home in Rolling Hills Estates on Jan. 29, 2009 after a year and a half battle with cancer. Shirley was born on Dec 7, 1936 in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada as Shirley Yvonne Styner. She was the youngest of 13 children. Shirley is survived by her husband, Jay de Miranda; her daughter, Laura Partin; her two adopted granddaughters, Alexis and Brianna; three older brothers, Ralph, Bob and Roy; and her sister, Edy, all residing in Canada. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Saint John Fisher Catholic Church at 5448 Crest Road West, in Rancho Palos Verdes. The church is at the corner of Crest Road and Crenshaw Blvd with entrances to the parking lot both on Crenshaw and Crest Road. Following the mass there will be a short reception and a private interment at Green Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation to the de Miranda Family Foundation, Post Office Box 2127, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA 90274 is suggested.
