A native of Brantley County, he was the son of the late Hardy Pierce and Mary Elizabeth Harris Pierce. He had retired from Hercules, Inc. as a welder/boilermaker and was a member of Little Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Ruby Lane Pierce of Hortense; a son, Sammy Pierce (wife Cheryl) of Woodbine; two stepdaughters, Linda Thorne of Milledgeville and Charlotte Douberly of Hortense; five stepsons, Raymond Davis of Nahunta, David Davis of Offerman, Jeff, Richard, and Billy Joe Davis, both of Hortense; three grandchildren; twenty-one step-grandchildren; eight great-great- grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Little Memorial Baptist Church. Burial was in Hortense Cemetery.
Music was by the church choir. Song, "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were Wendell Douberly, Leslie Patten, Lawrence Flowers, Hank Hillebrant, Junior Douberly and Marshall Little.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Harrell, Jay Lane, W. C. Lane, Jimmy Lane, Jerry Rowell, and Donald Davis.
Chambless Funeral Home of Nahunta was in charge of arrangements.
