Gas City - Sylvia M. Morris, 103, 120 W. Main St., died on Tuesday in her home. Mrs. Morris was born in Farmland and was a longtime resident of Gas City. She was a graduate of Farmland High School. She married Ervin Morris on June 3, 1911. He died in 1967.
She retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in 1960 after 42 years of service. She was a member of the Golden-Emblem Club, a charter member of the Gas City War Mothers and a member of the Historical Society. She was also a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ray (Onita), Marion, and Robert (Nellie), Gas City; nine grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday in Needham-Storey Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., with Rev. Ned Gillum officiating. Burial was made in Grant Memorial Park cemetery, Marion.
