Raymond H. Auck, 75, Box 234, Chatfield died at 12:10 p.m. yesterday in Bucyrus Community Hospital from injuries sustained in a car-pedestrian accident Feb. 25.
Mr. Auck becomes the eighth violent death in the county for 1976, and the sixth traffic fatality of the year. He is the second traffic-related death this weekend, the other being a two-car crash on Stetzer Rd., also Sunday morning.
Mr. Auck was crossing Ohio 4 at Ohio 103 in Chatfield going west taking empty bottles and trash across the road to a trash barrel when he was hit by a car driven by Donald L. Denger, Vermillion, at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 25.
Denger told Highway Patrolmen he did not see Mr. Auck until he was upon him and his auto knocked the Chatfield man down in the southbound lane. Auck was later admitted to Bucyrus Community Hospital for a possible fractured hip and contusions of the body.
Mr. Auck was born Dec. 24, 1900 in Chatfield Township to George and Louise (Kalb) Auck.
Surviving brothers are Omar Auck of Rt. 2, Bloomville and Freeman Auck of Bucyrus. Two sisters, Mrs. Helen Brown and Mrs. Richard (Freda) Wilson, both reside in Bucyrus. He was preceded in death by one sister.
Mr Auck was employed in truck maintenance for the ACY Railroad.
He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Brotherhood of the Church. Mr. Auck was also an honorary member of the Chatfield Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Nazareth Lutheran Church. The Rev. George K. Swartzfager will officiate and burial will be in Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery.
Calling hours will be observed after noon on Tuesday in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
