Mrs. Jane McCalmont, wife of Mr. Isaac McCalmont, of Madison township, Clarion county, Pa., died at her home Saturday, January 30, 1897, aged 74 years, 1 month and 17 days. Mr. Isaac McCalmont died at his home in Madison township, Tuesday, March 2, 1897, aged 72 years, 6 months and 8 days.

Mrs. Jane McCalmont was a daughter of Mr. Isaac Hull, and was born December 13, 1822, in the northern part of Armstrong county, near Wattersonville. Her parents moved to what is now Madison township, Clarion county, and located near New Athens, when the deceased was seven years of age. She resided at this place until she was married, in 1847, to Mr. Isaac McCalmont. She united with the old Bethesda Presbyterian church, about the time or soon after it was organized and was a member of that church until her death.

Mr. Isaac McCalmont was a son of Mr. Isaac McCalmont and was born in Center [sic] county, Pa., August 24, 1824. When he was sixteen years of age he came to Clarion county with his mother, who had married again after her husband's death. They settled on what is known as the Hutchinson farm in Madison township, where he lived until he married. The deceased was also a member of Bethesda church.

Mr. and Mrs. McCalmont after their marriage settled on a farm about two and a half miles from Rimersburg where they resided until within the past ten or twelve years, when they moved nearer to the town. They had nine children - two sons and seven daughters. One son died in infancy, and G.A. McCalmont is still living on the old homestead. The daughters are Mrs. Brown Cross who died 16 years ago, Mrs. George Bonnett, Mrs. Martin Bonnett, Mrs. William Bonnett, all of Madison township, Mrs. Veretta J. Pinks, of New Brighton, Pa., Miss Eliza McCalmont of Madison township, and Miss Carrie McCalmont, of New Brighton.

Mr. and Mrs. McCalmont were among the most highly esteemed people of the section in which they lived and enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew them and besides their immediate family leave hosts of friends who sincerely mourn their demise. The funeral services of this aged couple were held in the church of their choice, Rev. Kelly, the pastor, officiating, and their remains were laid side by side in the Rimersburg cemetery to await the resurrection of the just.
