Sikeston, MO - Annie Mae Gant Matthews, 86, died at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 31, 2005, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1919, in Saltilo, Tenn., daughter of the late Marvin and Mary Bell Gant, she lived most of her life in Sikeston where she owned and operated Ann's Fabric for 17 years. She was a member of the Shady Acres Church of Christ and a former member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 137.
On Aug. 29, 1942, in Springfield, she married Elmer J. Matthews, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2003.
Two brothers, Bruce and Roy Gant, and one sister, Beulah Morgan, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, Stephen Matthews; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Zenon Maciekowicz and Debbie and Glenn Hogenmiller; two brothers, James Gant and Aubrey Gant of Dudley; two sisters, Ruby Holman and Viola Williams; and five grandchildren, Stuart Matthews and Stephanie Matthews, Laura Hogenmiller, Jennifer Hogenmiller and Michelle Hogenmiller.
Visitation was at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services were scheduled at the Shady Acres Church of Christ, with Pat Hogan officiating.
Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Dan Lape, Benny Eason, Darrell Stewart, Steve Sikes, King Sidwell and Keith Gregston.
