Mrs. Ethel McAdoo, active church worker of Houston, died in a local hospital Tuesday night.
She was born in Rhome, and had lived in Houston for the past 29 years. She was a member of Irvington Park Baptist Church, a teacher in the Sunday school and worker in the training union. She engaged in missionary work among the Indians of New Mexico several years ago. She was active in Trinity Baptist Church for many years.
Mrs. McAdoo was a member of Post Oak Grove No. 16 of the Woodmen Circle and of Myrtle Lodge No. 245 of the Rebekahs.
Mrs. McAdoo was the widow of Albert F. McAdoo, Sr., who was a cousin of former United States Senator William G. McAdoo. She was the sister-in-law of Dr. J. Griffin Chapman, former missionary to Japan and now pastor of Irvington Park Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. McAdoo are three children, Mrs. C. N. Birkes and A. F. McAdoo of Houston and James C. McAdoo of Beaumont; three sisters, Mrs. S. E. (Clippie) Lyles, Mrs. John Griffin (Vecie) Chapman, both of Houston, and Mrs. H. G. (Cecil) Hatch of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Elvis Lewis King of Seattle and Lawrence Woodrow King of Houston and two grandchildren. Jeanine Birkes and Charles David Birkes, of Houston.
