Della May Rogers, daughter of Elijah and Rosanna (Shoemake) Rogers, was born May 25, 1875, Oskaloosa, IA. When she was five years old the family moved to western Nebraska where she grew to young womanhood. She married Albert Sims on June 15, 1898, and as a young married young couple, they moved to Manville, Wyoming. Because of the severe winters, they moved north to 20 Mile Creek where they lived until Mr. Sims' health forced them to leave the ranch. They lived in Lusk until Mr. Sims' death in 1943. After Albert's death, Della made her home at Lost Springs, Wyoming, with her daughter, Gladys wife of Henry Amend during the summers, and stayed with her daughter, Delberta wife of C Monroe Simpson in the summers. On one trip from Wyoming to California Della was caught in the famous winter storm of 1949 and had to stay on the train until the train was rescued.

Mrs. Sims was a member of the First Congregational Church of Lusk, Wyoming, since 1942.

Della Sims, 85, died in the Spencer Hospital Lusk, Wy, where she was a resident of Niobrara County for about 60 years. When she died, she was survived by a son, Cecil R. Sims of Byron, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Amend of Lost Springs, Mrs. Delberta Simpson of Madera, Calif. and Mrs. Beryl Fullerton of Lusk; a sister, Mrs. Iola Stafford of Madera, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
