Services for former Perrydale resident Ennis Milton Frink of Salem will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Salem. Interment will take place at Bethel Cemetery.

Mr. Frink died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in Salem. He was 96.

He was born Sept. 17, 1912, in Junction City, the son of Loring and Fae (Shipley) Frink. He was the eldest of 13 children. The family resided in Enterprise and Corvallis before settling in Falls City in 1926 where he graduated, with two other students, in the class of 1931.

He served six years in the National Guard.

From 1931 through 1934, he worked at Hart Robinson's Rickreall farm, where he met his bride-to-be, Mary Luzelle Crippen. The couple married Oct. 17, 1938, and settled in Perrydale where he worked for Elliott Feed and Seed. In 1941, they moved to their new home in Perrydale and their son was born.

In 1954, he was promoted manager of the Ballston warehouse, where he worked until his retirement in 1977. Following retirement, he managed the warehouse in the summers until 1993.

He enjoyed his apple orchard and garden.

His family said he was known for his homemade horseradish and $8 per 40-pound box of apples, hand picked and carefully sorted, having regular apple customers for decades. They added that he could be seen afternoons sitting on his lawn chair, waving to those passing by and talking to others who stopped for a visit.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

In Sept. 2007, he moved to Amazing Grace Group Home in Salem.

He is survived by his son, Norman, of Salem; a brother, Warren Leslie of Salem; three sisters, Delores Jones, Fae McClure and Rae Winstone; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1999.

Memorial contributions may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice, 1015 Third St. N.W., Salem, OR 97304.

Barrick Funeral Home of Salem is in charge of arrangements.
