J. A. Bryant Buried At Sandy Ridge Cemetery Friday
Relatives and friends were saddened early last Thursday morning when news came that J. A. Bryant had passed away at his home in Security and would be brought to Cameron and interment would be in Sandy Creek Cemetery, Friday, November 14, at three o'clock, that being his last request.
At the age of 24 Jack Bryant came to Milam County from Mississippi and two years later was married to Cordelia Yoakum, daughter of George Yoakum, father of George Yoakum and Mrs. Jim Davis of Rockdale. To this union 6 sons and 3 daughters were born, all of which survive.
He was 81 years old at his death, and lived most of the time since coming to Texas, in communities near Rockdale and Cameron. He did extensive farming near Cameron for many years, and had many friends in Milam County, and was known for his integrity and kindness and was ever ready to lend a helping hand. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and active in iis affairs until his health failed several years ago.
Surviving are: Mrs. Wilson Morgan, Winters; Bailey, Walter and Will Bryant, of West Texas; Jennings Bryant, of Security; Jean Bryant, of Freeport, Mrs. Jean Moseley, of Houston; his wife, Mrs. J. A. Bryant and Eula Bryant and Fongo Bryant, of Security. All of the children were at the funeral except Mrs. Wilson Morgan of Winters, who failed to get the news in time and arrived shortly after the funeral was over. Besides his wife and nine children, there are 39 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
