Joanna was the daughter of Charles Chiles Cleere and Sarah L. Howle. In 1877, Joanna and her husband, Ambrose D. Gibson, became some of the earliest settlers in Johnson Co., TX; they remained in their original home in Lane Prairie until their deaths. Joanna was buried the day she died.
