Nathaniel's father was Amos Howard Whitmore. However, Amos's wife, Mary, (whom Amos is buried with) is not Nathaniel's mother. Mary was Amos's 2nd wife. Nathaniel was one of the seven children of Amos and his first wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Lamb. Betsy died while the family was still in Scioto Co., OH but I don't know exactly when she died or where she is buried. Her youngest child was born in 1833, so she died sometime between that date and 1837. Amos was remarried and had at least one child with Mary, John Wesley, in 1838. John Wesley is also related to me. He married my aunt Marian Elizabeth Brown, so he's my 3rd great uncle.
