Services for Herbert L. Skinner, 85, of Euless, formerly of Canton, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Eubank Funeral chapel with the Rev. Don Childress officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton. Burial will be in Haven of Memories, Canton.

He passed away Feb. 6, 2009, in Euless. Mr. Skinner was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Oakland, Texas, to Samuel Graydon Skinner and Georgia Buyher Skinner.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Canton. Mr. Skinner grew up in the Oakland and Grand Saline area and met Nita Beth on the Van Zandt County courthouse square. They married in 1941 and lived in Oakland, Dallas, Greenville and then retired to Canton where he lived until 2005. He retired from Frito Lay and independently owned two Exxon service stations. He was a deacon in the Baptist church for over 40 years.

Surviving are his son, Leslie D. and Pam Skinner of Daphne, Ala.; daughter, Gay and Jim Kelso of Fort Worth; daughter, Wende and Todd Haynie of Carrollton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 62 years, Nita Beth Skinner.

Pallbearers are grandsons: Joel Skinner, Clay Hall and Kyle Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Leo Bryant, Dr. Norman Hall, Fred Gaulden, Clint Gober, Bob Harwell, Robert Miller and Orville Scott.

Family will receive friends Sunday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
