RICHARD J. GENDRON BURLINGTON - Richard J. "Dick" Gendron, 65, left us Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, in Fletcher Allen Health Care after a short illness. He was born in Burlington on July 4, 1935, the son of William A. Sr. and May Roseeva (Deforge)Gendron. Dick worked at Cassler's toy store on North Winooski Avenue for more than 30 years. He served honorably with the Vermont Army National Guard for eight years. He was a longtime member of the Malletts Bay Fire Department and was known as the ""fire photographer" for Burlington and surrounding towns. In keeping with his spirit of community service, Dick founded the C.B. Radio Patrol Club.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pauline (Desautels) Gendron; his daughter, May Gendron, and grandson James Gendron, all of Burlington;
his brother, Robert Gendron of Burlington; his uncle and aunt, Edmund Gendron of Hardwick and Marion Beaulieu of Burlington; several nieces and nephews, especially, Cheryl Dow; and many cousins. Besides his parents, Dick was predeceased by a sister, Rose Eva; and a younger brother, William ""Pete" Gendron.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral chapel with interment following in New Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours are today from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home, 97 Elmwood Ave. Those who choose may send memorial contributions to be used as the family wishes.
