He was born on July 16, 1940, in East Bernstead, Ky., to the late Ray William Helton and Nora Lankford Helton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as a diesel mechanic.

Bennett and Susan Rae Helton, both of New Braunfels, and Christina Fay Trainer of Victoria; sisters, Pat Wright, Ann Shouse, and Shirley Howard, all of Kentucky; half sister, Pamela Lankford of Kentucky; stepsister, Sharon Sowders of Kentucky; half brother, Ronnie Lankford of Kentucky; and four grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: sister, Barbara Cooper; and brother, Harold Lee Helton.
