Dr. John Allan Knight, Sr., died 2/2/09 while vacationing in FL. Knight was born 11/8/31 in Mineral Wells, TX, the son of John Lee and Beulah Bounds Knight. He was married 8/22/58 to Justine Rushing. Knight was survived by his wife (Justine), their 3 children (John A. Jr., Jim and Judy Walraven), 6 grandchildren, 2 brothers (C. Marselle Knight and Don Knight), and a host of nieces and nephews. Knight graduated from Bethany Naz. College (SNU) in ‘52 and earned an M.A. from OU in ‘54. Knight holds the M.Div. and Ph.D from Vanderbilt Univ. He was an ordained elder in the Nazarene Church. He taught at 3 universities, authored books, commentaries and scholarly journals and served as Pres. of Mt. Vernon Naz. Univ. and SNU in Bethany (‘76-‘85). He was editor of Herald of Holiness, the official publication of the Int'l Church of the Nazarene, and served as General Superintendent of the denomination from ‘85 until he retired in 2001. Dr. and Mrs. Knight resided in OKC. Service Tues. 2/10/09 2:00 pm Bethany 1st Nazarene Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John A. & Justine A. Knight Scholarship Fund at SNU.
