MATTHEWS, Ga. - Emily Story Pennington, 95, wife of the late Andrew Floyd Pennington, Jr., entered into rest Friday, April 9, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at the Mt. Moriah UMC on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 11:00AM with the Reverends James Emery and Chris Henry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Emily was born to the late Samuel Gaines and Ida Gresham Story in Waynesboro GA, but lived most of her life in Matthews GA. She was a graduate of Limestone College, a teacher and homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Moriah and served her Lord faithfully. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and loved people, parties and poetry. Her vitality and generosity will be greatly missed by her family and community. Emily is preceded in death by her son, Andrew Floyd Pennington, III. Her survivors include her children, Sam Story (Dolly) Pennington and Deborah (Mike Helton) Pennington; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Brooks Pennington; five grandchildren, Carolyn Emily Pennington (Wesley) Sparks, Andrew McNair Pennington, Mark Garrett (Ashley) Pennington, John Edgar Pennington and Melissa Ashley Pennington; and three great-grandsons, Connor Floyd Cummins, Garrett Andrew Pennington and Brooks Jerry Pennington. Pallbearers will Jim Milton, Sam Story, Troy Stewart, Jeb Barrow, Alan Rabun, Jeff Jones, Jerry Dowdy and Jim Gay. The family will receive friends at the residence this evening, Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 6:00-8:00PM.
