Born in Ray City, she had lived in Pierce County for most of her life. She worked as a cashier with Pierce Trading Company for several years but was a retired dietician, having worked with Satilla Area Substance Abuse. Mrs. Ferrell was a member of the Blackshear First Baptist Church and a daughter of the late Willie Benjamin and Mary C. Crews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Etheridge Crews, and by her second husband, Herbert Hugh Ferrell.
Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Sprucy Jones and Kathy (Lamar) Smiley, of Blackshear, and Kerra Tippins of Utah; a sister, Myrtle Rowell of Hortense; six grandchildren, Steve Jones, Elizabeth Cunningham, Mary Smiley, Michael Smiley, Josh Tippins and John Tippins; four great grandchildren, Brett Self, Reason Cunningham, Emmaline Cunnimgham and Garret Jones; several other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday Aug. 24, from the Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Hortense with Dr. Bill Young officiating. Interment followed in the Twin Rivers Cemetery.
Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
