Brantley Enterprise: May 8, 1947: Amos Crews Funeral Wednesday, May 7:

The funeral of Amos Crews who was killed in a shooting affray at Pine Castle, Fla., Saturday, May 3, was held at the Crews home near Hickox on Wednesday. Interment was in the Hickox Cemetery.

Mr. Crews was 29 years old. He was working at Pine Castle. Sheriff George Jump of Pine Castle investigated the shooting affray. He indicated that McKinley Flowers, held in jail accused of the shooting claims Crews was holding an object in his hand at the time of his death.

It was also reported that a hammer was found under Crews body when it was examined after the shooting.

Mr. Crews is survived by three children, Hazel, Louise and Leonard Crews; and four brothers, Lloyd, Nolan, Charlie, Raymond and Reppard Crews.

Mr. Crews body was brought back to Hickox on Tuesday by his brother Reppard Crews who went to Pine Castle immediately after learning of his brother’s death.
