Eunice Woods, 97, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at North MS Medical Center Long Term Care Facility in Eupora.

Ms. Woods was born on January 6, 1902, in Montgomery County, MS to John Thomas and Lora Caffey Woods. She graduated from Springhill High School in 1932. She was a long time resident of Columbus where she was secretary for R. C. Cola Bottling Co. for many years. While living in Columbus, Ms.Woods was an active member of the Pilot Club and a member of First Baptist Church. She participated in many volunteer projects and the annual Columbus Pilgrimage.

Upon her retirement she returned to Eupora where she made her home and cared for her mother until the time of her death. In Eupora, she was an active member of Eupora First Baptist Church and she was also active in the JOY Club and the local garden club. Ms. Woods moved to the Long Term Care Facility in Eupora where she continued to enjoy life to the fullest and inspired others with her agility, sense-of-humor, and positive attitude.

Visitation was held Thursday February 26, 2009, from 5:30 pm until 8 pm at Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora. Funeral services honoring God and celebrating her life will begin at 11 am today in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Travis Gray officiating. Burial will be in the North Union Cemetery in Bellefontaine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lora Woods; three sisters, Ona Webb, Winnie Clanton and Mary Lou Gilmond; and two brothers, Dorrie Woods and W. C. Woods.

Survivors include two brothers, Melvin Woods of Jackson, MS and Donald (Frances) Woods of Walthall, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of all arrangements.
